An interesting article in the news on the value of receiving  a master’s degree in today’s economy. For librarians the MS or MLS in library science is still a must, a union card if you will to be considered for most most professional openings. This article points out that more than half the students today have the master’s degrees awarded are in two disciplines; business and education and that the current labor needs of the U.S. work force are demanding more technology and engineering skills. Also pointed out is the costs of additional higher ed training is shifting from employer to employees.
