A member of the Insurance Society of New York since its founding in 1901, Mr. Edward Rochie Hardy soon became chairman of the Library Committee and eventually secretary of the society. Below is a signed picture of Mr. Hardy from 1929, who was well known throughout the insurance industry and considered a leader in insurance education in America. In his honor, a large portrait of Mr. Hardy was unveiled in the library on January 3, 1940 where it remains on display today.
